Status pages

A status page is a public page. It shows one or more of your checks to anyone who has the link. For each check the page shows the current status, the 30-day uptime, and a full list of incidents and scheduled maintenance. Use a status page to inform your customers without access to your account.

Create a status page

Open Status pages in the console and select New status page. Enter a title and an optional description. Then select the checks to show. You can create as many pages as you want, each with a different set of checks. You can therefore publish a page for customers separately from an internal page.

To add or remove checks, edit the page. The changes reach the public page in about one minute.

Each page has its own link that ends with an id that nobody can guess, for example https://zerodrop.app/status/01J8Z.... There is no name to select and no directory of pages. A page is therefore visible only to the people who have the link. Copy the link from the Status pages list, or select View to see the page as a visitor sees it.

If you delete a page, its link stops working immediately.

What visitors see

For every check on the page, a visitor sees:

  • Current status: operational, down, or unknown.
  • 30-day uptime: the percentage of the last 30 days when the check was not in an incident. Time inside a maintenance window does not count against the uptime, so planned work does not decrease the number. See Maintenance windows.
  • An uptime history chart: one vertical bar for each of the last 30 days. A green bar is a day without downtime. An amber or red bar is a day with downtime. Visitors can therefore see the recent trend.
  • Incidents: each period of downtime in the last 30 days, with the time range and the duration. The page does not show the internal cause, because it is engineering detail with no meaning for your visitors.
  • Maintenance: each maintenance window in the last 30 days, with its time range and reason.

Visitors do not see your account, your other checks, the probe locations, or any settings. The page shows only the checks that you add to it.

Maintenance reasons are public

The reason on a maintenance window appears on every status page that contains a check in that window. Write the reason with this in mind, and do not put sensitive information in it. The maintenance form reminds you of this rule when you schedule a window.
